The STABL-LEVL isolator is an air spring suitable for applications requiring high deflection and a natural frequency of 3 to 5 Hz. With a vertical to horizontal of 1:1, they are ideal for microscopes, optical comparators, shakers, optical equipment and machine tools. They provide a low-cost vibration and shock isolation where the higher isolation of SERVA-LEVL is not required. The STABL-LEVL isolators can be combined with the mechanical height sensing valves used in SERVA-LEVL systems for automatic height control with the same height control accuracy and leveling. Used in this way, applications include coordinate measuring machines, machine tools, shakers and other equipment where the disturbing frequency is 8 hz or higher and the equipment is not overly sensitive to vibration.
The stiffness of a STABL-LEVL isolator is partially from the elastomer diaphragm and partially from the internal air pressure. At full load, the natural frequency is 3 Hz however since the internal air pressure provides part of the stiffness, the natural frequency only increases to 5 Hz at 25% of the maximum load. Like SERVA-Levl isolators, the STABL-LEVL isolator has no static deflection. The isolator is simply installed under the load, and then is inflated to its pre-installed height.
